Dandie name (or part name):

National Terrier

Staffordshire County Showground, 2nd April 2011. Judge: Mrs K M Irving (Dandyhow).

"The entry of 61 dogs was very pleasing and it was good to welcome a number of newcomers to the Dandie world. The main problem I found was movement. I was particularly surprised to find such a deterioration in hind movement since the last time I judged. Though I feel that over flashy presentation should be discouraged some of the exhibits could have looked so much better had they been groomed with a little more care. Mouths were good apart from one dog and temperaments were excellent and just stressed what a lovely breed the Dandie Dinmont is. There was a huge variation in eye shapes and colour. Some had eyes which were rather prominent others that were smallish and some were rather light. But in a way eye shape and colour are the least of our problems and we need to concentrate on conformation and movement. Size was, by and large, OK."

Minor Puppy Dog1st: Lowndes's Glendandy Star Catcher
Mustard, good size and shape and had a pleasing head with a good eye but his coat could have been better presented. Moved a bit better than the others in this class when we were able to get him going. By the time of the challenge he was much better behaved. Handler and dog need a bit more ring training.
Glendandy Star Catcher
2nd: Smith's Glendandy Star Maker
Pepper, heavier made dog and rather more mature than the winner, with overdone head furnishings and very little body coat which made him look lacking in balance. Better in mouth and in hind movement than 3.
